In Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks was jailed for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man, a violation of the city's racial segregation laws.

Rosa Parks became famous because she wouldn't let white people bully her into standing up for a white passenger who had just got on the bus. I am white myself and think Rosa is a truly inspirational woman and deserved all the fame she received. And don't ever wish death upon innocent people.

The event was actually staged. The story didn't actually go that a few random Americans had a chance decision thrust upon them which had a snowball effect changing history. It was an entire, calculated campaign by the NAACP, probably among other groups, to make a ruckus like they did with Parks. Parks herself had chosen a couple teenagers to do the same thing prior to her own act. It was no spontaneous act. It did a lot of good, but let's tell it how it was. The video is misleading.

We owe so many courageous peoples thanks and gratitutes. Mrs. Rosa Parks is surely one of these. May the bus she is travelling now. offers her a confortable armchair, farmore better than those in the filthy fifties. Where're those people who were mad about her not letting an other humanspecimen to take her probably wooden chair, which wasn't free of charge either? Life's nothing but a walking shadow! RIP.....

Growing up, I didn't recognize Rosa Parks as an inspirational person simply for refusing to move and being arrested. Now that you explain it like that, it makes a lot more sense. Its hard to make that connection not truly understanding how the times were and reading from a textbook.
