@thornsx ..There is that scene where Costner and Duvall are camped out by a campfire and Costner tells how he was in a "special unit" during the Civil War where they basically ended up killing anyone or anything...men, women, cattle, horses, whatever. It was to illlustrate how he became so jaded and cynical and also a cold-blooded killer. Who else besides me thinks that would make for a really kick-ass movie as like a prequel to this??

In any case, it is Kevin Costner's personal policy to not run out of bullets until he is damn well ready to stop shooting.

@E2theSamps accually i counted 16 shots from his revolver. 1st in that guy's head then the shoulder of that old asshole. then a 3rd off to his left @ 0:45...4th @ 0:49 right before he turns to look at Robert Duvall gettin wounded. then turns back to his left and fires the 5th and 6th shot @ 0:51 on a wide angle camera. then the moment of the 7th shot, which is heard, goes to a closer camera view to the bad guy reacting to gettin hit. then Costner fans the hammer on the remaining 9 shots. LOL

Hmmm, I've heard of nine shots (the LeMat Revolver held 9, plus the 10th supplied by the attached shotgun barrel) but 12 would surprise me.
The revolver he uses is a Single Action Army model, which holds only six. It's a movie mistake, but a common one in westerns past and present. Besides, 12 rapid-fire shots make for a much cooler shootout than just 6 :)

Some people forget that in this film, Charlie (Kevin Costner) carries two revolvers. Making twelve shots completely plausible.
