Redondo Beach California's Greenhouse Effect with 'Star' from the 'Going Legit' album 1991. Rick Carmody on bass and Clark Hagins wrote this song at '251' garage and maybe downstairs 1990...Says Clark Hagins; "I remember we were reading some article about Iggy Pop on the cover of a Bam Magazine i think that day i came up with that riff that was sorta like a cheesey 'Billy Idol' like progression,..somebody at a gig told me that they'd heard this guitar part in a song before - like maybe a Danzig or Killing Joke song ...i doubt it, G.e. were too fucked up for that..." This was definitely a live favorite in the G.e. setlist around 91' and 92' ...the studio version certainly predicts the grunge and indie-pop to come from the 'alternative rock' 1990's. Released in February 1991, It was onsale all over the South Bay at record shops and back east in/ from New Jersey to Boston on Rock City Records.
