@MsMurielle25 I do wish the Dominican Republic the best. I don't hate them or envy them but they need to understand that us Haitians have chosen a different path to live our lives. Yes,our paths have been a bumpy & rocky road but such has been our destiny. The sacrifices that our ancestors made 200 years ago caused many countries & people to find freedom. We are still paying dearly for those sacrifices. Still today the Dominicans refuse to acknowledge those sacrifices we made!
@gilgabe66 yes i am aware of that,. just as most of cuba is stuck in the early 1900's, haiti is stuck in the 17th century. and it would be wrong to not would be ashamed of there european roots, only some lightskin african american solely identify as black because if they dont then they would be rejected by other blacks, haitians usually resent dominicans success in recent history.they always seem to want to call dominicans out on small things they blow out of proportion.
@holloween2011 I wasn't critizing Dominican Republic. I was merely pointing out to him that Haiti's paths are different. If you knew the story of Haiti very well you should know that we were more advanced then most Islands in the Caribbean. Cuba has always had trades with Europe & US until Castro came in the 50's, Haiti from day one we have had embargoes from both Europeans & US. Most Dominicans don't consider themselves blacks instead they praise being mixed of Sapniards solely!
@gilgabe66 the reality is that everybody has to answer to somebody. there is no such thing as an "independent country", your always going to need allies and investors in order to succeed. the US was a colony that became a successful independent nation through foreign aid. even Haiti aided the US in there independents. it was a bad investment because the US embargoed them shortly after. the Dominican is growing, and instead of criticizing there success, i admire there resilience.
@holloween2011 If you read or understood clearly what I wrote, you would have realized that I was not or am I being a HATER as you accused me of. I don't hate or envy Dominican Republic. As you well put it "Haiti is a victim of the US & Europe" as a Cuban I am sure you can understand the evil ways of the US & Europeans towards a country they determine to destroy.Haiti's paths have always been difficult but Dominicans just think it's easy & we just need to surrender like they did.
@gilgabe66 whoa there why all the hate? im cuban, and dominican culture is popular amongst all latino communities. the founder of cuba even came through santo domingo. and during our independants, dominican leaders fought with us wich is why we have statues of dominican in havana (maximo gomez). and they do have n elite. which comprises of 35% of the population.we always get along, DR even reminds me a of cuba. haiti... well, is a victim of the world. dont be a hater...
Great work!
