I constantly talk through five solves of a 3x3x3 cube to display my 'skills' in the hope that you will give me advice on how to improve.

And yes, I realise that I sound like a bumbling idiot!

  • theres a little girl in S Korea who averages under 20 seconds. i have no idea how, but she does it. But i do noticed, she never really stops, she just continues to move it. I have no idea how, LOL. But shes only like, 11 years old. LOL.

  • Wow. You're really getting slick with the moves. Can't get why you're average is 40s. Mine's probably a minute when I'm in practise. There's still a lot of stupidly long sequences people try and push on people. Most satisfying thing is to play for hours on end (usually thinking "A,B,A inverse") discovering tricks by accident.

A few days ago I did top layer, middle layer, then 6 move "Japanese" sequence to get cross on the final side - AND IT ALL FELL INTO PLACE. Must've been about 20s.

  • you saw my thought process video for f2l right? Where I try to track the pairs while I insert pairs? Your moves seemed automatic enough that you can already maybe start paying attention to tracking pieces while you solve the cases. And yes it takes practice. A lot of practice. But that is the direction you have to improve in right now. During practice especially, go EVEN slower. Like, refuse to complete a case unless you know what you will do next kind of slow. I dont know how else to say this

  • this is very easy.

when you are describing yourself in the beginning, you are telling me what i hear almost always, from everyone. You are the most average cuber that you could be, with all the same issues.

And you make the same mistakes. Your F2L is fast with no lookahead whatsoever. You turn the sides like crazy and spend 2-3 seconds finding pairs. This is BAD. very bad. Solve MUCH slower f2l. You may be surprised to get good times. Maybe not, but try to hit the sweet spot of speed. cheers

  • Its just an algorithm, speed is impressive.

    Nice...

I think I might look into it, the algorithm that is...
