Here's ZK-CPT the only Bristol Freighter in the world currently running and trundling around under her own power. Taken late on the practice day (Friday) for the Classic Fighters Airshow Easter 2009. Arm by Al Marshal!!

  • Awesome video, nice to see a beautiful piece of machinery like that alive once more. Gives me the warm fuzzies just watching her running

  • Thanks yes nice to see shame there are no Freighters in the air anymore :-(

  • is she airworthy though?

  • No not currently, would need a lot of money and effort to get airworthy. And the plan isn't to fly her I'm afraid.

  • Cool vid, I sure didn't think I would ever see one of these beasts still flying!

  • Sorry to disappoint but she doesn't fly and there are no plans to. But the plan is to keep her running!

  • @VideoRoom207 Thanks, I cant access my videos now due to the famous tie in with Google mail but I am now here under this username. Going to see the Freighter next weekend and maybe see her run.

  • Really love the look of this plane. Some people might call it ugly but I really really like it. Nice video

  • UUuuuugly! Remember them flying over when I was a kid. Thought they were cool. Still are!!!

  • very nice old airoplane

  • nice to hear the 'ol girl fire up ...

  • Thats OK that it doesn't fly, it is safer this way, as unfortunately planes have a habit of crashing :(

Best to just taxi around giving those Hercs a little work out! And make danged sure to have tons of fire extingushing equipment handy!

That reminds me, I should ease up on my sleeve valve Lawnmower engine, as I don't want the con rod putting "a leg out of bed" at 6400rpm ! :((

I am also working on a RR Crecy type 2 stroke sleeve valve, now there is a different animal !
