  • Great vid. Hard to find accurate information about axes these days. A lot of folks who tink they are doing it right. One thing that no one mentions is to be sure of a clear area for the swing. It should be tested to see that the area for the length of your arms and the axe handle is clear overhead and all around you. Also precautions against hitting legs are good. How to stand, especially with a camp size axe.

    Thanks for the good information.

  • Try splitting logs with knots in them like that and you won't be long reaching for the long handle axe.

  • @99bugout You are absolutely right...good point...thanks...

  • Thanks. I paused your video, and went and sharpened my axes. Good reminder. One other technique, nobody seems to mention is when swinging a larger axe to split a full log is, on the down swing, to slightly about 5 to 10 degrees angle the axe head to the side. Which causes the axe to give a good wedge and splits the wood very efficiently. Not doing this cause the Axe to get stuck in the wood, because it entered the wood strain in. So just slightly angle the axe hear out to the side.

  • man i wish i lived in canada. florida sucks...
