難兄難弟 started out as a film in 1960, with the first set of original songs, starring 胡楓, 江雪, 謝賢 and 南紅. However, the 1997 TVB 難兄難弟 parody (模仿) of 呂奇 (羅嘉良), 陳寶珠 (張可頤), 謝賢 (吳鎮宇) and 蕭芳芳 (宣萱) probably started from the "毋忘難兄難弟" album. which features the original 難兄難弟 songs, with some of their own songs from other movies that got mixed in. 羅堅 (who was the producer) wrote the lyrics.

奇哥 uses the same composition as the Cantonese song "唐山大兄" recorded by 鄭錦昌 in the 1972 album "唐山大兄/馬永貞大戰精武門"; the song is based on the 1971 film "唐山大兄" starring 李小龍. Lyrics written by 鄭錦昌, recomposed from "龍飛鳳舞". It was rewritten by 小暉 to be used in the television series "難兄難弟", so rather than singing about "唐山大兄", the song would be about "李奇" (parodied by 羅嘉良). The song features 程寶珠 (parodied by 張可頤).
