This is a 427 Ford engine that was rebuilt in my shop and is being broken in on the Simtester.

  • Not a true break in. What's the point? No compression to seat rings, not really enough rpm to break in cam, no windage to hit bottom of lifters.

  • Machine allows the rods & pistons to align before starting. Compression is checked. Machine not designed to "break-in" cam, I can varify counter-rotation of lifters, and set pushrod length, there is sufficeint windage to keep the cam and lifters lubricated. Been able to design some very effectiue windage trays. The machine also allows me to check oil pressure on the lifters from the front to the back of the engine, a significant difference. Engines is checked oil leaks.

  • very nice, ty for sharing.

  • @fiatnutz @ Fiatnuts: Truly, you are the best.

  • lol .....stroke has more to do then bore ....they been making small block 351w based 427 strokers for years

  • John, I was looking into the 427 stroker, then I clicked on a side video and then I see the R&D pop up, and I just said 'damn it John, you've tricked me' Ill explain my shenanigans tomorrow when I come in

  • yes, accual chevy pistons, this is the word of scat tech personel, if you want the specs call scat and confirm, what difference does it make, power is power, pistons are just metal. Pistons don't know if they are ford are chevy. people have been putting chevy motors in fords and ford motors in chevys, budget and availibility always dictate a build. Horse power to wait is all that matters anyway.

  • What constitutes a chevy piston? Made by GM? I suspect they are made by Ross or Wiseco or some other piston maker for a Ford FE chamber. The rods are Scat using diameter dimension common to Chevy's. Makes it cheaper to make them. Nit picky I know but there is no need to mention chevy parts.
