Mumbulla forest, near Bega is home to the last koalas in their region on the far south coast of NSW. Koalas in that region have had a tough time since European settlement, with only 30 to 50 animals remaining. Rather than give them a helping hand, the Government is about to log their forests.

  • o: how can i takee her home with me ion clevlenad its adorable :[

  • @trichosurus Australia is prepared to destroy the people of that land so why not the animals & flora. This is just a bi product of Australians supporting the (now) silent genocide of the aboriginals. And that is even more shameful. The aboriginals, land, flora & fauna are one.

  • @CLOUDSCK The same questions could be asked about Australia in general. Its not as if its just come about now. Look no further than the aboriginal people & their treatment & the genocide via stealth they are facing.Once you destroy the people of the land its then onto destroying the environment.Yes save the koala's & the people of that land dear sir as they are one.

  • These forests will yield 95% woodchips. We are prepared to sacrifice the koala for 95% woodchips. I believe most Australians would find that totally repugnant.

  • When will forestry interests in this country recognise the wildlife habitat and the biodiversity of native forests?

Production forestry is homogenising our native forests, encouraging the regeneration of 2 or 3 eucalypt species at the expense of wildlife habitat and threatened flora species.

Even when the evidence of wildlife decline is documented, the Forests Minister ignores all protest.
