Annotations complete.

16:9 Fail =_=

This is not a throw guide.

Instead of my usual [verb] guide, i thought i'd try for something more useful that can be applied to a much wider range of actions.

By silhouette, i mean the general outline of the character. Exagerate things as much as you need for a more dynamic pose to put more power into what your character is doing.

Music: Banjo-Tooie - Bullion Bill's Hut.

  • I love that not-so-informed starting animators don't realize that planning can really help pull of a certain look. Also helps the jumpiness and downsizing that happens with straight-ahead animations.

Indeed, little things like this make a huge difference. One of the first things they taught us in university was this sort of thing in the form of a bouncing ball and covered squash and stretch too. We drew out the entire path and planned each movement of the ball in one go first, then drew out each frame. I wanted to cover silhouettes and already had my bouncing ball animation on my channel anyway, but i'll try to get to squash and stretch at some point seperately.

  • Wow. That's cool 8D I wish I could do that.<33

  • omg bango and kazooie music....i miss playing those games but they were fun while it lasted :)

  • haha the music brings back memories :)

  • Wow, o.o thanks for posting this, I can animate a little better :D

  • Wow your tutorials are always so amazing ;)

  • @DarkmaneTheWerewolf Yea another nice thing is having extremes after the end keys of a certain movement to make it look more lively. Also helps with the anticipation and bounce-back of the squash and stretch.

  • I already knew all this, but the way you interpret it is just fantastic! You've gotta be at least ONE of the bests animators on this site. ^^
