Mr. and Mrs. Biddle have on their hands something foreign and new to them: an empty house. But, as habits and the last several years have taught them to do, their thoughts automatically go towards their children. Mrs. Biddle comforts her husband, telling her to "Let them go.", and they'll always have the holiday to look forward to.

It's interesting to note that the two Biddle sons are mentioned fleetingly, last having been seen in the first twenty minutes of the film, in which they perform "Dynamite Up Her Sleeves (Watch Your Footwork), and then fleetingly during the Biddle Bible Class scene, and then disappear, much like Rosemary, Cordy's room mate, after "Bye-Um-Pum-Pum". This is one of the criticisms of the film, that every minor character that is introduced performs a song, and then vanishes. While I agree that this is a bit strange, this underrated Disney film remains one of my personal favorites.

  • The Sherman Brothers (composer & lyrics) and A.J. Carothers (screenplay) wanted this in the middle of the film when the boys were to leave off to college from the train station. Walt Disney insisted this stay at the very end of the film, the best for last, and what we would we remember as we left the theatre. The studio subsequently cut the film three times in the Summer of 1967. This was the first scene cut! Ms. Greer skipped her hometown premier as a result. Track on "Sherman Songbook" CD.

  • This part always makes me cry.

  • Beautiful song, Thanks for uploading. It's was an great idea including the conversation before the song.

  • I love this movie SO much! It's always been one of my favorites. It was my dad's favorite when he was a kid to. It's so upsetting that people in my generation don't appreciate things like this anymore. :(

  • I bought this movie the other day and have watched it multiple times. I was a young child when I first saw this. I didn't remember the story line but I do remember that I loved it. (anything Disney actually) Brings back very fond and warm memories. This and Futurosity are my 2 favorite songs from this movie. Thank you so much for the upload.

  • One of the sweetest songs ever. Childhood goes by so quickly and there is nothing left but an empty house.

  • @Shasta11111111 He was the perennial disney father. He played a retired mailman in the orginal Shaggy Dog. He also did a few really good westerns!

  • @CantStayAway

    His name is Fred Macmurry.

  • I'm always gonna love this movie because of 1) the pet alligators...that's just cool. and 2) I LOVE the "Dynamite Up Her Sleeve" song!:P:)

And could someone remind me who the actor is who plays the father?
