As a teacher, my profession is obsessed with standardized testing, meeting standards set by No Child Left Behind and other federal and state regulations. In Florida, it's the FCAT, but each state has their own version. However, as any of you can attest, life isn't multiple-choice. My question therefore, is more complex: do you believe that tests like the FCAT are sufficient to measure student learning, and therefore be responsible for the distribution of critical federal funds to schools in need? Why or why not? Please justify your answer with common sense conclusions. Partial credit is available.
the goal of NCLB is admirable, to have a level of competency at schools.
i agree
there are too many standardized tests...so how bout we combination test like an SAT and then Audit...heck encourage PTA involvement with cash subsidies for parents under a certain income...the testing system should be altered.
