When I learned to Crosspick I gained speed through trying to play as weak as possible when i crosspick but at the same time as fast as I could. It's hard in the beginning but It forces you to hold the pick very loose and relaxed. Don't dig down with the pick unnecessrily much. Paradoxically I believe you have to be soft but firm, if that makes any sense.

@Sunburst64 Thats a Couesnon Chorus Model built in France in the early 50's.  Fun guitar other than the position makers are in a different places, really messes with your head ;>)
