Hooray, I finally made another video! The three biggest features I implemented are game state management (i.e. a title screen), an in-game menu, and the battle system.

Sorry about the extra noise in the audio; I think my headset is dying. Or something.

  • Do you have a story in mind? If not, I'm facing yet another team diaspora on my current project and seriously need somebody with your skills. I have a story written, and I'm working on the dialog script. If you're interested in teaming up on an XNA RPG, I'm available and desperate.

  • I've got my own game design that I'm working on, so sorry, I can't help you. You can visit the XNA Creators Club forums and see if you can find help there.

  • I want to create a game just like this with classic view. Where did you start the map or the menus?

  • Nice videos, gives me some inspiration for the XNA game I'm currently working on. By the way, turn-based battle system... good man! I hate timed battle systems.

  • This is amazing what you have done so far, if you do make a new video, can you explain a bit about generally how things work as well?

I look forward to seeing any updates. :D

  • you created this using RPGMaker, stop frauding.

  • Hey, this is looking really awesome. As a programmer working on an RPG of my own (in FreeBASIC, for Windows), it's really an inspiration to watch the progress of your project.

And watching bugs crop up while you're demonstrating is awesome, too -- reassures me that I'm not alone there either! ;)

Great work, man -- keep it up!

  • The past two years have told me that I'm not finding the kind of help I need over there...

I'm actually more apt to writing it as a manga right now. Your engine just seems closer to what I had in mind than what the team I had could do with the XNA RPG kit. Unless I find the right people, however, a manga seems a lot more feasible.

Thank you for responding, just remember that I'm always open for collaboration.

  • Nice man! It's good seeing these videos, as it makes me more thirsty to make games. I'm working on a C++ game, I've made a map maker which is currently working perfectly, and I've started making the main game physics engine. It's working well. I'm definitely watching this project.
