TRUDGE ultimate had its humble beginnings sometime around the beginning of college ultimate. In April of 1975, 8 teams met at Yale in New Haven, CT for the first tournament to be known as an Intercollegiate Ultimate Frisbee Championships. RPI was among these 8 teams. After struggling their way to the final game of the tournament, they lost to Rutgers 26-23.
The dictionary definition captures the philosophy of our ultimate team perfectly. Since 1975 we have been working toward another shot at the national championship. We have been steadily improving our results, now qualifying for regionals 2 years in a row with progressively better results. Our team has developed into a respected competitor placing 11th at the 2009 UPA Northeast Regionals and 11th at D-III Nationals. Having only graduated 3 players from last years team, TRUDGE ultimate is poised to make a real run at being a top half team at regionals. Acquiring talent from the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Trudge is composed of unique individuals of all skill levels. However, our desire to win will never be outmatched by our spirit and fun-loving attitude on and off the field. In an effort to spread this mentality throughout the ultimate community we ask you, Five Ultimate, for your sponsorship.
