Mdina's origins date back to the late Punic period maybe even to the Late Bronze Age as scant remains dating back to this period has survived. Remnants of the Roman Occupation of Mdina exist in the form of the Roman Domus just outside the present walls of Mdina, which during the times of the Roman extended right to the present church of St. Paul in Rabat.

Music in the background is that of Mozart Violin Concerto No. 2 First Movement Allegro

  • Love Malta, but I don,t like the Maltese people, they are far too insular and money grubbing. Anything in Malta that is of any worth or of any interest cannot be attributed to the modern day Maltese, think about it.

  • Yes indeed your copmment of the 1683 earthquake is correct.

  • Mdina as it is today was built by the Grandmaster de Vilhena who paid out of his own pocket for the rebuilding of the Cathedral and the palaces which were destroyed during the 1683 earthquake.

In my previous post I referring to the foundation of Mdina, which occurred centuries before the arrival of the Arabs.

  • Mdina as we see it today was built by the arabs.

  • You have a mistake in your video, that is not the Archbishops residence. The Palace of the Archbishop is near the Museum. Which cant be seen in your video.

  • ci sono stata, STUPENDA

  • Mdina wasn't built by the arabs. The Arabs demolished three fourths of it (thus destroying a whole Roman settlement) and walled the rest.
