James Kalm sneaks up during the installation process of Hope Gangloff's "For a Good Time" at Susan Inglett. From there we visit veteran Brooklyn painter Carolanna Parlato's "Nature Games". With its unselfconscious handling of gallons of acrylic, and her delicious color sense, this exhibition displays the latest developments in Parlato's unique "poured" style. The wit and whimsy of Bill Weiss are on view not only in his eccentric and playful shaped canvases with their references to "Pop Abstraction" but his cagy response to my interview request. Included are interviews with Hope Gangloff, Carolanna Parlato and Bill Weiss.

  • bill weiss, sometimes saying nothing is the most appropriate response.

    bill weiss.

  • The Gangloff paintings make me think of James Brooks work in a strange way. Thanks always for your efforts james Kalm.

  • Ha ha ha, "thousands of views."

  • This art is vacuous, right?

  • hope gangloff is kinda hot

i liked her show it was pretty good

  • Such an arrogant guy that Bill Weiss!

  • your choices amaze me, always the shows I want to see, I have been curious about her work for a while, nice to see the scale, and the guy...ehhh, talk to my lawyer...

  • the poured pieces were very nice. pouring paint is much harder than it seems. takes a lot of rheology tweaking and planning. thanks james!

  • the bill weiss paintings are nice, lucio fontana meets charles schulz

  • I really liked the piece that Hope was completing. It seemed to have connotations of Egon Schiele's "Seated Woman With Bent Knee." I also very much enjoyed seeing Carolanna's work. She seems to collaborate with the paint to bring about images that nearly reach an organic form in a fluid manner. Fabulous stuff!!
