Class 3, Part 3. This video comes from Marakana's 5-Day Android Bootcamp Training Course which Marko Gargenta taught in San Jose, CA earlier this year.

In this tutorial, Marko will show you how to set-up a SQLite database to store local data for your Android application. The database service will run in the background and periodically update the database to ensure that the data needed for your Android app is relatively fresh.

This tutorial will:
- Introduce you to SQLite
- Show you how to create a helper class that provides a "connection" to the database
- Introduce you to the database schema and its creation
- Cover the four main operations for application databases

  • Great video, although for someone who did not take the course and is trying to apply this method to their own project, it becomes a bit confusing when you start using your "updater" file.

Otherwise, thanks for another great tutorial.

  • SQL sucks? Lets see you develop something else!

  • BAM! ...

  • thank you very much I got an Idea

  • @flybwoy89 He is not wrong , pronouncing sql (as sequel ) is an accepted. You can says s.q.l or sequel but it is always written as sql

  • I don't get why Marko refers to sql as "sequel", as it stands for Structured Query Language, which I'm sure he knows. Maybe it's just a nickname he made up?

  • @gadsbywc

in fact u can download it

  • Thanks, great vid. Unfortunately there's sync issues though.

  • Very useful tutorial on Android and sqlLite .... Proper nooby friendly ...

  • I have been watching the series for a while and I have watched this video before, but now, 25 Aug 2011, I have restarted it about 20 times and I only get to see the first 11 minutes or less before the video locks up.

  • I really wish people would just hold their questions until the end or write them down. That same girl has managed to derail him like 10 times in the first 20 minutes
