Ward 16 - Eglinton Lawrence TORONTO City Councillor (and now also TTC Chair), KAREN STINTZ's impassioned May 25, 2009 argument for her opposition to the idea of cycling-safer infrastructure on JARVIS Street appears to predate the recent campaign anecdote she alludes to in her most recent Council speech on the subject:

Not that it matters much, as the the larger issue might be that the Councilor seems unaware that her utilitarian bike-riding constituents might also have children, and that such responsibly-mobile citizens might want to get home on time for them, as well.

Even more importantly for our sake though, we'd also like to get home in one piece.

Reasonable HEALTH and SAFETY for ALL on our city's streets remains the priority issue, does it not? ( :-)

  • "Suddenly 27000 cars will be replaced by bikes". She doesn't accept that assumption ? Well, who the hell is making that ridiculous assumption, except her ? Talk about setting up a straw argument to make a bogus point. Really pathetic.
