Colin Firth, Meg Tilly, Son Will Firth

RELATIONSHIP BIOGRAPHY: Colin met Meg on the set of the movie Valmont, where Meg acted as Colin's on-screen lover. In an interview, he said, "I was probably in love with Meg from the moment I met her, but it took her a while to be convinced"; & "I don't think I consciously wooed her. But we had scenes of passion together, and we filmed in Paris and Bordeaux - dangerous places in which to film with a beautiful woman."

They dated from 1989-1994 & lived together as a de facto couple in her log cabin in rural Canada. During that time, Colin worked as a carpenter, & was stepdad to Meg's 2 kids from her previous marriage. In an interview, Colin said he never wanted kids, because he associated fatherhood with old age & boredom, but changed his mind 1 yr into his relationship with Meg.

Colin & Meg agreed that they would have just 1 kid, so as to preserve her acting career. Will was born in 1990 & is Colin's eldest child. Will is a US, UK & Canadian national, & suffers from Dyslexia. Because there were no acting jobs in rural Canada, Colin travelled overseas to work. He read bedtime stories to the 3 kids over the phone whilst away, & frequently flew to Canada to see them. In 1994, he couldn't tolerate this jet-setting lifestyle anymore, so he told Meg he wanted to separate.

Since separation, Will often visits his dad in London. Colin remains friends with Meg, & keeps in touch with Meg's other 2 kids, whom he referred to as his "stepchildren" in a 2008 Letterman interview. Meg said "it's important & wonderful that Will's dad has stayed so present in not only Will's life, but my other children as well."

Will is following in his parents' footsteps. He started showing an interest in acting in his late teens, taking part in plays & musicals at his high school. He's currently studying at an acting school in London. Fun fact: Will is 6'4" tall

1) winning Venice best actor award for A single man: "I was so excited when I heard the news. So pleased for him. He is a wonderful, wonderful, deeply talented actor and I am glad that there will be a film coming out that was written and directed in such a way to allowed him the luxurious opportunity to dive in deep and true.

So, all you distributors out there, get your butts down to the Toronto Film Festival, see this movie. It is playing tonight. Sit back and enjoy and after that put your bids in, because this film is looking for a distributor. And for all you movie-goers out there, when A Single Man appears in a theater near you, make sure you go and support this gem of a film. And after you have, then rent A Month In the Country, because Colin's performance in that was also a thing of beauty.

I wish you could have seen him play Aston in Harold Pinter's The Caretaker on the West End. He was in that play when Will was a baby and night after night we watched it and Colin's performance, over and over, took my breath away. Congratulations Colin! All of us here are very happy for you."

2) winning BAFTA for A single man: "This is WONDERFUL news. We are all quite giddy with excitement. I'm not sure how many Best Actor awards he's received for his work in this film, this is the third maybe or the fourth, but every time I hear about one, it's quite a delicious lovely feeling. I'm so pleased that Colin is getting recognition for the wonderful actor that he is. WAY TO GO COLIN!"

2) winning Oscar for The King's Speech: "Our happy hats off to a member of the family. We are so pleased for you! Tonight we shall all lift a glass of wine to toast your continued success! Hearty jigs are being danced. Jubilant hugs and kisses from all of us. Onward and upward!"

the relation between Firth and Meg Tilly ended in 1993. In 1994 he dated Jennifer Ehle while filming Pride & Prejudice. Meg Tilly remarried in 1995 with John Calley 30 years her senior and divorced in 2002 when she began a new relationship with Don Calame who later became her third husband. I'm looking forward seeing a video of her with his first, second and third husband as well and the photos or the other two children.
