Dedicated to the woman I love

the woman whom even God dreamed of before the world was made
the woman of whom I was born at cost of pain and labor at a cross
The woman who, though no priest could yet on calvary's hill breathe, "This is my body, this is my blood"- for none save her gave Him human life
The woman who guides my pen which falters so with words in telling of the Word
The woman who, in a world of reds shines forth the blue of hope.
Accept these dried grapes of thoughts from this poor author who has no wine; and with canna's magic and thy Son's power work a miracle and save a soul, forgetting not my own.
- Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

  • Good job Cheesemonkey. I'm sure that our Mother of Carmel will be watching over you very closely. I'm surprised that you are so well acquainted with things Carmelite.

  • @argosjkj the brown scapular is universal. As for carmelite spirituality is is similar to that of the Franciscans. St. Peter of alcantara was a franciscan. He was St. Theresa of Avila's 1st spiritual director, so there is a noticable influence of the franciscan way on the reformed carmelites of St. T. and St. John of the Cross.

  • Friend cheesemonkey, are you discerning a vocation to the priesthood? If so, avoid the rot, e.g., the Jesuits. I recommend the FSSP.

  • yes, I know a thing or two about Jesuit Moral philosophy and it is not the best, but that actually depends on what community, there are still a few orthodox congregations of Jesuits out there.

  • I was just enrolled today :D I got a lot of feedback since I'm the youngest in the parish to have done so, I believe.

  • Does anyone no how to roll it up? O.o ! Can anyone post intructions or a vid/.

  • There are a few exceptions to the rot, of course. James V. Schall, for example, is one of my favorite writers today.

  • basically, while she was present at pentacost, we do not really know what her life was like. She is only mentioned asa being present with the Apostles, but I imagine, especially with Luke (who was not an Apostle) and John who was trusted by Jesus to take care of her after he died she had a significant relationship to. Remeber though, she was jesus' mother and was probably very supportive behind the scense with the apostles. Again, I can not say for certain, but I can guess.

  • @cheesemonkey1990 Thank you. Excellent addition too. I would've like to know more about what mssion she took on as the events Acts were going on.

  • her last words were, "Do whatever he tells you." But she shows up finally at Pentecost with the Apostles.
