Classic 40's swing tune captured during recording for our upcoming demo CD (spring 2008). Recorded at the concert hall, Victoria Hall, Cobourg, Ontario. www.thebigeasy7.com
I have no idea why you'd do this particular big band chart with a combo. The instruments don't balance very well. Just because the bass is too loud doesn't mean it'd compensate for the bass bone/bari.
Phew. You white people ever heard of Count Basie? Glad he never heard this. Earth to your Rhythm section: Terrible. Wrong. Bad. Whose idea was it for you to record, Marlee Matlin? But seriously, truly ghastly. Listen to the small band studio recording, "Basie Jam" from 1973, featuring Basie, Ray Brown, Louie Bellson and the great Irving Ashby on rhythm guitar. Please listen to that...then stop recording for a looonnng time until some of the subtle artistry of the great masters sinks in. Sheesh.
Moten Swing, another old favourite,is plain sailing for the Big Easy 7.Note the versatility of the musicians, their clear ensemble playing, their solo's,dynamics and clean breaks. Way to go Big Easy 7.
Odd seeing The Big Easy 7 in street clothes. No fedoras, no wing tip shoes. Who knew you guys owned blue jeans? Nice close up on the Seussical t-shirt. Good job. Looking forward to hearing the cd. Keep the vids coming, Frank.
It sucks...Learn to swing...
