Keiko means Blessing. She is my new Quaker Parrot that I got for Christmas. She is only 3 months old.

She was hand fed and snuggled a lot by the same breeder that I got Sugar from, so she is incredibly SWEET.

She was not used to little kids, and I had my granddaughter, Jasmine, visiting for awhile. I had Jasmine just talk to her and move slowly around her for the first day.

The second day, Keiko let Jasmine pet her and other stuff, which you will see on this video.

Any advice about Quaker will be appreciated. I'm doing a lot of research and love what I'm finding out -- that they can be very talented in talking, and very comical, sweet and snuggly.

  • At :42 it looks like the bird was gonna bite. When I had mine, that's what he would do and everyone would be to scared to get near it.

  • @Apocalypse487 Yeah, but I was watching Keiko very carefully. You have to get to know their 'body language' I think she sensed Jazzy loves all kinds of animals. To this day, out of all my grandkids, Jazzy is the only kid that Keiko will go to - she doesn't like the other kids. Of course, it doesn't help when she's walking around the floor, and the other kids fun and scream "Ahhh the toe biter - run!!". So she's really going for the 'it's a game' reaction.

  • =) that was sweet. I would take my quaker with me to class. He didn't like adults and in fact seemed to enjoy biting them. But with the kids I taught he was completly different by letting them pet him. It just depends on the birds temperment and not letting them become too attached to one person =).

  • Hi, thanks for the compliment. I'm really trying to have Keiko not become too attached to just me. Hubby works a lot, but when he comes home, I'm really working on him giving Keiko attention to get used to him.

There's noting more aggravating than a parrot that is so loving just to one person, and wanting to attack others.

  • AMAZING!!! you & your daughter have same voice lol.

I'd like to have a house with as parrots as you have xd. But here in Barcelona there's no possibility to have it.

  • LOL thanks, but that's not my daughter, that's my DAUGHTER'S daughter.

  • My Quaker just died yesterday :( I MISS HER SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

  • cool my bird has the same name :) but he is very scared so.. I am afraid to let him out of his cage :( I got him a couple of months ago and he is still very confused and scared, he is a budgie.

  • @dalsch U know I've heard that these birds love biting toes, even as a baby. olololololol

  • @dalsch I knew it pretty well, but your bird nicer to other people than mine. He would bite viciously if someone other than my sister or I got near him. I got him to ease up and be nice. He flew away while I was at work. someone opened the cage while the door was open and I still have yet to find out who it was.

You have a very nice bird however.

  • very cute

  • birds like kids. my quaker acts friendly to all kids.....

  • loved

  • lol i wish my mum would let me have lots of pets :D but i have my adorable victoria :D
