It all began in 1985 with the revolutionary Lancair 200, an aircraft so technically advanced that its now part of the experimental aircraft association museum collection. The Lancair 200 revolutionized the flying experience, offering pilots more performance, more freedom, increased satisfaction, and a better value than any other piston-engine general aviation craft in existence.

  • @aerozg actually it isn't so simple...yes there are detailed instructions and manuals and the support staff at Lancair are there to assist you, but this is a composite aircraft. You must have some knowledge of epoxy work before you start piecing one of these together. However, these skills can be learned relatively easily by attending an Experimental Aircraft Association technical workshop. The toughest part of finishing an airplane is the avionics and engine details. But it sure is fun!

  • been drooling for years

  • My dads drooling over buying one of these to fly.

  • @eatmorenachos, well you don't have to have any experience whatsoever to build a kit aircraft like this because you get all the instructions in detailed manuals as to where all the nuts and bolts go etc.., look up a documentary called "A Plane is born" to get some idea of the building process and you shall see that its not hard at all. if you-re a full blown mechanic with a professional shop that could only help you, but like i said, its not mandtory

  • I am saving for the retractable legacy, I will buy it used for around 180k or so. Thats still a long ways a way for me though.

  • @bsg1206 thats cheap for a plane

  • i have it for fsx

  • @aerozg ,

How hard is it to build one of these? Do you have to be a full-blown mechanic with a shop? Do they build them for you at a price?

    Looks like an awesome ride!

  • yeah! why?

  • There's a link in the upper left description text of this video, to the lancair legacy homepage, and it states:

    Fastbuild Kit: $71,500

    Finished Plane Estimate:

    $180,000 - $280,000

The fastbuild kit is everything you need.Ive seen the fixed gear versions with the ballistic parachute, glass cockpit avionics and ELT built for some 120-130k. Thats a great price for a performance aircraft like this. Even with the IO360 engine it still can outmanouver and outperform any of its competing counterparts.
