  • No, mine isn't Boomy at all. Now the HD-35 to me is sort of Boomy, the D-35 sounds better (To me) than the HD-35. That's why I chose the HD-28. Best under $3000 acoustic around IMHO :-)

Plays great and the tone is superb from very light finger pickin to hittin it hard.

Nancy Wilson from Heart plays the heck out of her Martin. :-)

  • @hawg427 Yeah wait until it opens up. It won't be boomy. It will be deep rich boom! I had a 1992 HD-28. I gave it to my Dad, because liked it. What a great sounding guitar. In return he gave me a brand new HD-16R LSH. What a great guitar. I'd never would trade him back. The HD-28LSH V,and the D-28 Clarence White has nothing on the HD-16R LSH. When she opens up. You will love it even more. Everyday she gets better and better.

  • I ended up doing an A-B comparison of the D-28 & the HD-28 and IMHO the HD blew it out of the water as far as loudness and projection. I didn't feel it was Boomy at all. Bought it from MFD in Naples Fl. he has the absolute lowest prices and the easiest ordering on the internet. Beat Musicians Friend by $700 :-) I love my Martin.

  • @hawg427 the H stands for herringbone. that means it has "scalloped" bracing. they basically shave down the braces which lets the top resonate better leading to a more open sound with better bass response. some say its too boomy, some love it. u just have to play one.

  • Morrell Music should hire some flat pickers. This is a Martin, not a sorry ass Gibson, and Taylor.

  • Like my 000-15M, probably just plays itself. The kid merely held it (granted, I believe he probably plays far better than I, when handed an instrument where it shows). ;)

  • @BeatleUniversity just put a mic. in front of it.

  • What is the difference between the D-28 & the HD-28? Both sound great to me.

  • I am blessed to own one of these beautiful HD-28's. I had the Fishman+. System installed by a Martin luthier and the sound is amazing!
