Awesome looking plane. Congrats on the flight. I was also wondering about the use of what of what looked like full flaps on takeoff. Is that normal??

@jtkent28
To be truthful, it's not normal. Due to the fact the flaps are left in the down position for entry into the plane and they (flaps) are not supposed to be stepped on. I simply forgot to raise them. Not really an issue in the RV8. Being the 1st flight of the airplane, my 1st flight in a RV8 and you couldn't have pulled a needle out of my butt with a bull dozer, it was my error. On the downwind after the takeoff, I was wondering why the plane was not accellerating-- the flaps were down-

Really thinking about taking the plunge and getting started. I like Tandem seating. Thanks for the Vid.

I can't recomend the Vans series of airplanes enough. I've had 50 years of flying and these airplane are more honest than most factory built I've flown. Rip

Ripper,
This here is the Deathrattler, a good friend of Pudfark. Your RV-8 is a sweet, sweet looking plane. I absolutely love the WWII style paint scheme. If you look at the top 2 feet of the fuselage.....it would be easy to mistake it for a P-51 Mustand with the bubble canopy and paint. She looks like a great flyer too......I was waiting for you to pull it up from the high speed pass, and do an aileron roll!
Salute Sir!
