Allied Wastes Roosevelt Regional Landfill was one of the nations first landfills to be designed, built and operated to support a landfill gas power plant. It is one of the largest producers of landfill gas energy in the United States, absorbing more than 2.5 million tons of waste annually to generate electrical power. The gas to energy plant has been in operation at the Roosevelt Regional Landfill since 1999, and for the last 5 years has produced 10 megawatts of energy annually, enough to power 7,000 homes.Currently, Roosevelt Regional Landfill, located in Klickitat County, Washington, receives waste from Washington, Oregon,Canada and Alaska, and produces safe and reliable green energy for Washington residents and businesses. The facility is expected to continue producing green energy for at least 60 more years.
