I decide to play through Master of Orion 2 again using a less cheap strategy.

  • Great game, shame about a bit dumb AI ( remember however that game is released light years before Galaxy Civ 2 ). I hate how the game handles spying tho, they shouldn't know every time that you stole a tech from them.

  • @Irrehaare They don't know (and neither do you) every time a tech is stolen. Sometimes you find out who it was, other times it tells you who got framed for it, but much of the time it happens silently.

  • Hm...Is this game hard to learn?

  • @Zambaku I would say it's easy to learn but it definitely takes a few goes before your general knowledge of the game fills out and you can play on the harder difficulties. I'd say give it a try on the lowest difficulty setting. It's both forgiving and rewarding.

  • I'd say it's maybe the best space strategy game ever made. I tried GalCiv I + II, but I still like MOO2 better. All that old school graphics is lovely, space tactical battles are fun, diplomacy is fine and although the tech tree isn't that great, the game is extremely playable even today. I had some great fun trying to survive against all odds - I still remember how the Psilons attacked me with their huge fleets of Death Stars, I almost lost.

Oh, I am so fond of these memories :-)

  • I'm not sure why anyone would "call you out" regarding creative. I mean it's fun to have all the techs but from just a "I want to win the game" perspective it's not all that important. There are some tech levels where it's nice (especially if you play a government which allows moral) but at the same time it doesn't make much of a difference on alot of tech levels and doesn't help you research any faster nor produce any more.

  • For some reason, After playing this game myself and beating it(on normal, not on impossible) It's much more enjoyable to watch these. Maybe becouse I know how to do stuff now and it all makes sense.

  • Thank you for the good let's plays of MOO2 and Galactic Civilization 2. I was really enjoed!

You should check Imperium Galactica - it is just like MOO and GCIV2, just in real time. As far as I know there is no English Let's play of it.

  • The Klackons wiped me out on my last Match.

    Fucking bugs. D:

  • @RobertAKAsmoky

    Yes with Dos Box.

  • Can you play this game on Vista? because it's 95 / 98 game

  • @GetDaved There are a few hurdles if you didn't play any similar games before :) I must admit, the first time I saw this 15 years ago I was so confused I just deleted the game promptly :) It took me almost a year (and convincing of a friend who played it in the meantime manically) to try again. Then I got hooked for life! I still play it after 15 years (with pauses ofc).

Agree though, take tutor, and maybe average everything plus size small. Maybe turn off random events, antarans and combat.
