If you get a message on your C7280 printer or on your computer that says you're 'out of paper' when you DO have paper loaded, watch this video and see if it helps. You can find the same information by going to HP's website (or Google) and searching for 'c00786157' (lowercase c does matter). This video may apply to other printers as well. As I identify the other printers this works for, I'll update this description.

Let me know if this works or how it can be improved.

I am an HP employee, but I do not represent HP on this site.

  • THAK YOU for posting this.. like a crazy lady I didn't think to reset and it worked!

  • same here have you gotten yours fixed yet if yes then how

  • I love you! It worked!

  • PLEASE help me! my hp c7780 kepps saying Photo Tray Problem

Lift output tray up, verify the photo tray is pushed until it stops, lower output tray. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN PLEASE HELP FAST!!! :,,(

  • Thank you so much! HP told me the sensors had gone bad and I would have to replace the printer, but I got it working beautifully again thanks to your video!

  • Another possible issue not identified in the video:

these printers are equipped with a blue "photo tray" in the main paper tray area. If this is pushed in, it'll try to draw from that instead of the main train tray, causing this same type of error. The solution is to reach your head in, and pull out that blue tray until it is flush with the main tray.

  • Thank you.

  • thank godd

  • HP Support sucks. I have all the latest drivers and it still only works about 50%

Of the time. There tech support sucks big time. I will never buy another of there printers again.

In fact, I will never buy any of there products again Unless im willing to spend a whole day trying to get help from there support

  • I was pulling my hair out from this error and no help from cust serv. I googled and found this video and solved my problem. Absolutely awesome even though I had to go through the entire first three steps before solving y problem. Thanks,Michael
