this is a story of an eight year old girl Thamirabharuni. Residing in Coimbatore, the girl was affected by Thalassemia major since the age of 1and 1/2 yrs. Her father a carpenter in a private company, received help from LifeCell International, a private cord blood bank in Chennai to store the cord blood stem cells for Pugazhendhi the one-year-old sibling of Thamirabharuni.
The girl was treated through stem cells transplantation. The stem cells came from two different sources — her brothers cord blood, which was harvested during the time of his birth, and his bone marrow. The transplantation was successful as Pugazhendhis tissue perfectly matched Thamirabharunis.

A very well made and informative video. It gives hope to many parents. My Sincere thanks to Dr. Revathi Raj for her lucid explanation, Mr. Mayur Abhaya for his generosity & Dr. Ajith Kumar for his effort. The story is a perfect example how a proper medical advice at a right time brings a sea change in the life of people. The sober faces in the begining of the video slowly getting their smile back is the proof of the success of this technology. I am really proud to be associated with this field.
