yeah. the rear wheels doesn't have much function except deceleration and stopping. if Toyota can incorporate the rear wheels for recharging the battery at cruising speeds, were talking mpg in the 60's and 70 range

how about recharging when the wheels are moviing forward? that would even it give more mpg!

I have the second generation Prius and when I got it, the original MPG was 60 city and 51 highway. Then EPA with new testing changed it. I'm still getting close to the original EPA tests. I could just imangine how well the 3rd Generation Prius will do compared to other junk cars. I remember pulling up alongside a honda civic hybrid... nowhere close to mpg as me. 33 mpg vs 58 mpg

Awesome, can't wait to get mine..

Hi Hawqis1
Unless the Civic Hybrid is driven by an expert driver, it will be utterly and completely annihilated in stop-n-go traffic by the Toyota Prius for sure. There is simply no comparison there, The Prius wins every time !!!
But on the other hand, the 2010 Prius may put a definite end to the HCH-II's supremacy on the highway though... I just can't wait to see what the Gen 3 Prius can really do when left loose on the highway with its new 1.8L engine. :D
