  • ppl always say you can use "birch bark" to start a file & in most case's thats TURE, however its not so true when its being raning and it's a nighmere to get lit, But ppl argu this point and say it dont matter its wet as "it's full of oil" But in my experience it dont make any difference, i could never get it to light. so whats your view / experience of this ?

  • @cyberjackcyberjack - As with all tinder - my advice is to either carry it with you - so it is "tinder dry" when you need it - alternatively - gather tinder - including birch bark first thing in the morning and keep it in a pocket close to your body - it will be dry enough by the evening to light your fire. I always carry enough dry tinder to start a nunumber of fires - all in a small reindeer skin pouch

  • Excellent video, I especially liked how you cooked the trout over the fire with that special skewer. How did you make that? Wire? Thanks for the great information.

  • No wire, just split stick and 3 skewers. Trick is in filleting the fish so it's all in one piece. It's called Ponassing - Someone taught me many years ago.

  • Winter? Where's the snow?

  • In the uk we would all like to know where the snow has gone.

  • good stuff!

  • Now it is winter you may want to stay inside and play COD. My advice for camping is to use the AA12 and just hide in a dark doorway and shoot anyone who walks in the door before they have a chance to see you.

  • @wildshow any tips on sleeping in 30 degree tent? breathing the air made me get a chest cold ..serious cough insued at 1 am ...didnt gather enough fire wood to maintain the fire ...also had to pee about 4 times , i covered my sleeping bag with a heavy wool blanket were i breath threw ..continued to cough threw the night ended up hap hazardly gathering my stuff up and leaving with a horrorable feeling i could of died out thier if stayed any longer.
