The River Boat Festival takes place at Evesham, Worcestershire which is built around an oxbow meander of the River Avon. Over the last 25 years the festival has become very much part of the town's calendar. Some 10,000 spectators attended this year's festival from Evesham and much further afield. A number of the committee are retiring this year including the chairman, Hazel Hanlon but let's hope that the event will carry on for many years to come. This video is no substitute for attending the event and experiencing the atmosphere.
@paulmullen25 It is awesome how much work must go into wiring and decorating the boats let alone the event... The end result though, culminating in night parade and fireworks, is a wonderful spectacle enjoyed by thousands. And for non-participants, you have to be there to appreciate it fully - not just watch a 10 minute video. There's a date for your diary for 2011.
Thanks paulmullen25 - really pleased to hear from a boater...

It was great to find the video of the river festival on You Tube. We did take part in the illuminated procession and was good to see the boat.6 hours work to put up all the lights. We really enjoyed ourselves and there is a lot of camardarie with other boaters. We hope more boaters attend for 2011.
