Over the 17th and 18th of June 2011 the Scottish Railway Preservation Society (SRPS) ran a railtour from Linlithgow to Thurso and Wick via the Edinburgh South Suburban Line, Edinburgh Waverley, The Forth Bridge, Kirkcaldy, Ladybank, Perth, and the Highland Main Line via Inverness. In inverness the train was routed via the normally freight only Rose Street curve onto the line to Dingwall and the Far North line. The train was hauled by preserved English Electric Deltic Locomotive no. 55022 'Royal Scots Grey' as far as Georgemas Junction, with West Coast Railways liveried class 37 number 37676 'Loch Rannoch' taking over for the journey from Georgemas to Thurso. At Thurso the locomotives ran round in order that the Deltic could once again be at the head of the train for the southbound run from Wick later on in the day. This video shows a number of windowhanging shots of the train heading round some reverse curves, and also shows a number of shots of some of the stations en route from the Dornoch Firth to Thurso. Also the video shows 'Loch Rannoch' and the Deltic running round, before the passengers from the train started boarding coaches for an excursion to John O'Groats.
