@icfnord ; comparisons are distasteful, but following the demise of Jimmy Page (Heaven forbid) I seriously doubt that every guitar player & picker south (and north for that matter) of the Mason DIxon line would line up to play in a tribute & celebration of his musical achievements. Chet Atkins recorded over 20 of Jerry's songs alone, including The Claw, Jerrys Breakdown, Twitchy, Amos Moses, too many to list. Hope it helps.

@icfnord - He is better, but in country. He is for sure a superb monster on the six string, but Page plays different stuff. Now, faster does not mean better, like how Bo Diddly and John Lee hooker are recognized as great, not for their speed, but their rhythm. Van Halen nor Steve Vai could play lie this, but they are recognized a superb guitar masters in their genre. It's all in what you play that dictates how good you are to that particular crowd.

i never quite understood all the Jimmy Page hate--comparing him and Jerry is apples and oranges.
Jerry blows my mind everytime with his soul, his charm, his wit, his skill, and his presence. He's one of a kind.
But Jimmy Page is a hell of a player. Not all of his songs showcase it, but he has done some amazing guitar work that is no less influential that Jerry Reed.
cmon people, lets spread love instead of hate.
