America [Simon & Garfunkel] [AlphabeCover 1]

Today is the first day of the AlphabeCovers project. Every Sunday I will upload a cover of a song, going through each letter of the alphabet, for example this week is A for America by Simon & Garfunkel, next week will be B for By the Way or Back in the USSR or whatever.

As I am currently juggling alot of things in my life; mostly my course and organising live performances, I don't have much time to work and craft my own original songs so they're taking a while to make. This is just so I can update more regularly and also just because its good fun and practice for me :)

I must admit my performance on this could be better but what you see here is about the twentieth take as my camera kept failing. I got what I considered the perfect but then, Cubase crashed and all the audio. Getting this recorded was a challenge as it was Halloween last night and people were setting off fireworks. Fun. Also the harmony track (me in the green shirt) disappears near the end, this is because the camera just stopped recording. I don't know why, it didn't run out of battery, it didn't run out of memory it just stopped, for no reason. I can't wait to get a new one.

This is absolutely fantastic - Just pure music, I love it, and I think you could do wonders with the song "Orestes" by A Perfect Circle. The original version is somewhere between alt rock and metal, but if that's not palatable for you, there's an official acoustic version released by the band, as well as some piano/guitar/vocal covers floating around YouTube. It should give you an idea of the versatility of the song, the room for personalization - and I'd be thrilled to see where you take it.
