Tao-Klarjeti. Masterpieces of georgian architecture

Tao-Klarjeti, a cradle of georgian culture, which now belongs to Turkey. A place, where the greatest masterpieces of georgian architecture were built. Even now, after sencturies, their magnificent ruins continue to fascinate us...

I've made the fotos while an excursion in June, 2008
It was a "school-trip" and we had only 4 days. so we were allways in hurry and we have sseen only a several of the churches. I was so fascinated, that i decided to travel to Tao-Klarjeti again someday to have more careful look at the great masterpieces and see all the pieces of georgian architecture there. ...and make better fotos with better camera :) so wish me good luck! :)

This church is Doliskhana (Geo.: დოლისყანა). It's a Georgian, Klardshetian church built between 850-950 years.

The script is OLD GEORGIAN. I can't any Armenian and I still can read it and understand the words.

It says in Georgian: ქ(რისტ)ე ადიდე მეფჱ ჩ(უე)ნი ს(უმ)ბ(ა)ტ მზ(ე)გრძ(ელო)ბ(ი)თ [q(rist)e adide mefei s(um)b(a)t mz(e)grdz(elo)b(i)t]

I don't know how to translate it in English correctly, but it says something like: God bless the king Sumbat. I think it must be the GEORGIAN KING Sumbat I Bagratid (954-958)

How many armenian churches in Georgia have you vandalized?? Georgia as nation wouldn't even exist if armenia didn't raise against the persian empire in 451, saving at the same time your ass from persianizatioin... and thats how you thank us... if not that you would have been muslims now... whatever you're slowly becoming one.... in 25 years there will be more muslims than christians living in georgia.... and what conserns west-armenia, there isn't a single georgian church, nor dust...

You interpret history as you want. Yes, Armenia and Albania raised against Persian empire. That's true, but i belief they didn't do that to save Georgia. They had their own problems. King Vakhtang I Gorgassali saved Georgia from Persians.

And now you say that we must be grateful! For what?! You think, that georgian churches, our alphabet, our literature and culture is all yours!!! you think, that you are better than us, but that's not true!!!

well Armenian nation wouldn't exist if Georgian King David IV didn't make city ANI free from Seljuks...and also!!! don't speak about Armenian churches in Tbilis, it's better to sperak about Georgian monasteries in LORI, such as Akhtala and Haghpat...there are also Georgian graves in thgeir back yard, does it means it's Georgian monastery??? u never know!
