Washington, DC African Americans fight discrimination on streetcars. 1st part ends with "Streetcar War" of 1919. The companies that ran these streetcars were the predecessor companies of the Washington, DC Metro rail and bus system.
Being an African-American member of ATU Local 689 it is very interesting to learn about the roots of our local. I want to personally thank the compiler of this video for the hard work and research that went into this project. For some of our members, this is the first they will ever hear about the struggles of our predecessors. When we know where we have been, we can appreciate where we are.

I heard there was a "riot" here in DC in 1919 but I really didn't know much about it. Alot different than the "riots" today!
