The R8 were a different unit musically by 1932 to their fine records of the 1920s.Ahola has his visa application turned down as he was made a scapecoat for the US ban on foreign musicians playing in their country.Danny Polo to avoid the ban, restricted himself to Ambrose recordings.Without these two great musicians, the R8 became a competent dance band, but without the jazz element.Bert had retired from his job,due to intense physical exhaustion and left brother John in charge. The depression of the 30s would mean 1932 was the final year for this band. Here is a fine recording, with crisp playing in a neat arrangement. Not 100% but l think it is John Firman on piano, behind his brother Bert in the photo.
