Narada Michael Walden plays drums on this number. Phil Collins and Jerry Marotta play drums on "Exposure" as well, but not this track.
-
Why can't I dance to this song?
-
Why all the trolls insisting that Phil Collins is drummer?
LMAO. Even talented "sussudio" Phil didn't have the chops to play this.
(he actually did, but trying to double-troll here... but honestly, he was not the drummer on this song)

You may not like it, but recognize nothing like this existed in 1979 when it was released. It was still DISCO in 1979. Robert was (and is) an innovator always out of step with his time.
-
@666uberstud666 I'd say check out Collins' work with Brand X. That's his fusion band to Narada's Mahavishnu Orchestra. They're both pretty sick.
-
@AMERRVINZ collins plays on disengage and other tracks..and said in a modern drummer interview this was some of his best playing ever
-
@DanMcOgden1 there are four or five signature changes ..Fripp has written extensively on this tunesaying it was his best to date....fyi drummer is Narada michael Walden and of course bass is Tony Levin
-
WTF?! It's just RED! Is Fripp making a joke?
-
@AMERRVINZ Not phil on this tune, its Narada Micheal Walden
-
@DanMcOgden1 and FYI, Tony Levin on bass
-
@DanMcOgden1 Narada Micheal Walden on drums...
-
Ick. Another metallic overdrive piece I don't like.
-
@corkykab true
-
@AMERRVINZ This has been discussed many times over, and I can promise you that the drummer on this track is Narada Michael Walden (of Jeff Beck Wired fame), and not Phil Collins. Just sayin'...
-
DRUMS HERE ARE PERFORMED BY PHILL COLLINS..
-
The KING of Crimson
-
of course Collins' playing was solid (especially "Foxtrot" on your list) but my point is that MNW was a hella more technical and kick-ass, that's all.
-
@666uberstud666 Well Collins was great on Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme, Trick Of The Tail and Wind & Wuthering, too.
-
The five people that disliked this touch each other.
-
@whisper6969twice - I'll admit I had to look this up on my old vinyl - Walden wrote 4 tracks: "Come Dancing", "Sophie", "Play With Me", "Love Is Green" - and Wilbur Bascomb played bass on (and co-wrote) "Head for Backstage Pass" - Jeff's the best guitarist alive imho
-
Can't ellaborate words. I'll just click the like button for now.

larks tongues/red

surprised at all the comments stating that Phil Collins is the drummer.
nope.
Micheal Narada Walden is the drummer.
tsk tsk - you "drummers" should know better!
a finer example of how freaking shit awesome this drummer is, it is IMPERATIVE that you check out "NY3" (another song from the "Exposure" album), which really showcases his jaw-dropping playing.
Aside from bits from "Selling England..." and "Lamb..." Collins never got this technical, meanwhile MNW did crazy Mahavishnu shit before this.
-
Anybody remember what tune Narada Michael Walden wrote for Jeff Beck?
Who wrote and played bass on JB " Wired " Head For Back Stage Pass?
Answer this and I will send you a download of Breathless" Live!!

@Davechop54 Was just thinking this same thought.
The drums are great in a general sense, but the odd meters (7/4 in the beginning, and then ???? in the middle) really make it a difficult piece -- and the drummer just kills it, bringing everything together.
