My Fathers Eyes

Hey Dad, how are you doing?
Im fine, dont worry about me.
I'm just trying to remember that story you told,
And wishing you were here dad
Wishing you were here.

I remember when we all clowned
On that New Years Eve
When our eyes were young and the truth so profound
Was that the way we wanted it to be?

Life has a way of dividing us all
Yet we never know when to quit
Change tells us we are all moving on
Even though we know there's an end

But we all moved on to another place
That tells our stories with grace
Had our broods and we made our hay
In the shadows of our great tree.

So I remember the very first son
Of the very first son of the father
And how his eyes studied mine
Suckling his very first bottle

In the child, I saw myself
saw my father in those eyes
And remembered what my father said:
"You'll never tire,
looking in your son's eyes."
And so it was
I never tired
looking in my father's eyes.

  • This song was beautiful. It was so poignant for me because it's about my dad written by my big brother John who I am very proud of. Thanks John, I love you.

  • @znasmom John's lyrics are indeed beautiful. You'll have to listen to For Nevermore then.

  • Another GEM,....all teary eyed here! :==^)
