August Bank Holiday 1984 Stockport.Britain is lashed by the tail end of Hurricane Charlie and The Men of 992 play at their first and only outdoor gig. There were about 10 bands played that day adjacent to the now demolished 3 Tuns pub (its another carpark now,Blah Blah.Someone was annoyed by the noise and rushed the stage damaging some mics which resulted in a court case. The summons was displayed for years on the wall at the Bakers vaults till it was nicked by Arnie the bass player/singist...The stage invasion took place during the Zans set which had only just started after we finished so they carried the can as it were for our noise. To be fair the guy who wrecked the stuff lived half a mile away from the BACK of the truck/ stage so it was a sort of echo bouncing off the wall scenario nobody could have envisaged. It threw it down all day and the"audience" huddled in doorways and in the pub to escape the wind. The Men of 992 fragmented into Beat Science and the Casual-Ties who are still playing.Dave Moss plays in the Soul Bandits...he liked guesting with us as we let him play what he wanted to....
