Hard Mode
Endgame - Rebirth (5)
Battle against the Goddess Ashera
Part 4/4

Walkthrough:
Rebirth (5) The battle against the Goddess Ashera!
I made it myself a little harder then it uses to be.. I used up most of my Physic Staff and have only 1 use of Fortify left, which made me go nuts to begin with! But it did made me modify the strat a bit, in the positive. It'll still be a lot better if you got your fortify staff filled to 5 uses though.
Strategy; The middle orbs that surround Ashera have low Defense, those orbs on the sides have low Resistance (kind of..) all because of the tiles they stand on. Like in the previous stage, we got the tiles back too, Woodward is for better Resistance, Cover is for better Defense, and Healcover is to gain some health back after Ashera's turn has past. This also counts for your units, so make a use of it.Keep your mages/ healers/ Micaiah, or heron on the sides as far away from Ashera as possible. Her attacks are pretty powerful, but they have a routine:
Turn 1: Area of Effect: Physical Attack
Turn 2: Single Unit Magic Attack
Turn 3: Area of Effect Magical Attack
Turn 4: Single Unit Physical Attack
Turn 5: Area of Effect Silence
I noticed she can also immobilize units, so there is also a 6th Attack, Area of Effect, Immobilization.. lol
If you take Kurth with you, you can heal them by standing next to them, because of his skill, Awesome skill!
Whether you take it slow or go at it with a rampaging attack, depends on your Fortify and Physic Staffs. Have many? Go for it, don't hold back, just heal when severely damaged. Have a low count for those things? Don't take any risk and be willing to make sacrifices and pull back if you have to and use your Concoctions before using the Fortify Staff! You need the Fortify Staff more against the end of the chapter, then right when you start. If you can use Concoction, use Concoction. I found that I needed the Fortify Staff more when Ashera did her Field of Magical Attack.
Nihil; Negates the special ability of one character. Be sure you have given it to Ike and Caineghis, for the others I guess Mia and Zihark are the best options.
If you chant with Rafiel (or another heron) have him saved by Kurth or Haar, let the other one save Micaiah, as she won't last long, unsaved. Have Haar stand on a Woodward tile, all the time. Orbs can double him when he's saved another unit, and since he got low Resistance, but very high Defense, this will work out for the best. If you use Jill/Titania do the same, as Ashera will probably not attack a unit that is far away from her.
Take out the middle barrier first, if you have done this for all 4 of them, and you still got all characters left in your team, continue. By the time I was here, I believe I really had just a couple of uses for my Physic Staff. If you foresee the next turn you need Rafiel, drop him in range of the other units, but still as far away as you can from Ashera's point of view, and preferably on a cover tile.
The side barriers can be taken out using Magic AND physical attacks, but only use it if they can break one barrier through it. Otherwise, heal and pull back with your other characters and attack the next turn. Also, if you don't destroy the barriers, but damage them for more then 40 HP, and there's some spirit orb still floating around because it was out of reach before, just keep it damaged, pull back if you need an extra turn to heal, heal, and counter attack next turn. Really, if you think you're not going to survive this chapter, or only by chance, pull back, heal, and attack again, to increase your chances.
All barriers, very annoyingly, gain 40 HP each turn, so keep that in mind. When you're done with the barriers, all 8 of them, it's time for Ashera, the 120HP Goddess who has to get the final blow from Ike with his blessed Ragnell, if you didn't bless Ragnell, you can't beat this game. So the turn before killing Ashera, heal everybody, pull back if you're up close, and attack again in the next turn. Give her all you got, until Ike can kill her in one blow! She will most likely be doubled by Ike, if not and you still got your Heron, chant him if he misses. If you see the cutscene, you've pretty much beaten the game!
Congratulations! You have now beaten the game on Hard Mode!

Extra Info:
Here in Europe and in the US as well, Hard Mode is just Hard Mode, but originally in Japan, Hard Mode is called Maniac Mode in this game.
I co-operate on this walkthrough with hiddenshadow16 because way back when I tried to make a walkthrough on Hard Mode, I couldn't get past mission 1-1 in 10 turns. She helped me out and is writing a walkthrough about it, so I will make the visible content for her to expose in her walkthrough.
