This was my mid-term project I did in film school at LAFS (Los Angeles Film School) in Hollywood. The assignment was to take a scene from an Oscar-winning film and re-create it using your own style and technique.

I chose this scene from "The Departed", originally directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese, which starred Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio. We had one day to build the set and one day to shoot the scene. I have a cameo appearance in here as the bartender. Many weren't too fond of the actor playing DiCaprio, saying he tried to mimic him too much and not use his own style. Filmed in Los Angeles.

  • Giovanni Tartaglia = one of the coolest fucking names ever.

  • @niptuck117 Thank you, that's one of the coolest comments anyone has ever left me! :)

  • Good acting in this one. Are the actors you guys get usually fellow students and teachers? I'm interested in this school so I'm curious, how do you like it? Been seeing lots of negative comments about it.

  • No the actors are professionals that come audition. They are usually SAG/AFTRA.

  • @ItalianFilmAker You are very welcome! I'm extremely jealous of it, haha; also, the video = amazing. Good work, indeed.

  • I'm sorry but the Leonardo actor doesn't really convince, the rest is pretty cool..

  • Hey! I just saw your remake. I think the actors are not the more accurated ones, but hey, I know we are talking about Jack Nicholson and DiCaprio! But good job for the director.

Im studying the same thing as you, and I have to do a film just like yours too. I had the idea of remaking this special scene, but not anymore after you done it. I think it would be very useful if we keep in contact, so if you got any time give me a comment or something. Take care and nice job!

  • This is a mid-term project for school project asshole.

  • is this a porno?

  • great directing but i did not like the actor imitating decaprio. dont ever try to do wut others did already. find ur own fking way.

  • You should've used the actual opera song from the movie, "Chi mi frena in tal momento" :)

  • I'm an actor that's trying to hone my skills. I'm looking for a coach or teacher to guide me in a way that I can work organically and authentically. My goal is to be of the quality that I see "Franks" work. Excellent acting!!!
