iPhone OS 4.0 Event Recap

The iPhone 4.0 OS event was today where Apple announced their next generation iPhone OS - iPhone OS 4.0. iPhone OS 4.0 is coming over the Summer for iPod Touch and iPhone users, and in the fall for iPad users.

The biggest improvement to iPhone OS 4.0 is MULTITASKING! The iPhone (and iPod Touch and iPad) are finally getting multitasking! There is background support on homepages for the iPhone and iPod touch, 5x zoom for the iPhone camera, and more. Users can now create app folders by dragging an app over another. There's also going to be iBook on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

iAd - the new mobile advertising platform by Apple was also announced.

Game center is another add on to iPhone OS 4.0. Game center is kind of like XBOX Live but for iPhone (and iPod touch and iPad games). You can view achievements, leaderboards, and match making for iPhone apps.

@Mrmusicmaster88 Sorry, we don't have a release date yet (I would have said in the video, haha) We are expected to find out Monday when Apple has their WWDC event, though.

@princesskhym Everything besides background support and multitasking will work on the iPod Touch 3G 8GB model.

the funny thing about it is I dont have OS 4 but I can play my iPod and surf youtube or check my emails at the same time..........or even use safari take pics while running the ipod app etc etc isnt that a form or multi tasking.......BUELLER......BUE­LLER

I use the secound gen. iPod touch. I don't mind not having multitasking. Can't wait.
