Ian Wooldridge, principle cornet of the Abbey Brass, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England, accompanied by the music director and organist of Strathroy United Church, Edith Hanselman, perform Henry Purcell's "Trumpet Tune" as the postlude to conclude the Canada Day service on June 29, 2008.
Henry Purcell, September 10, 1659 (?) --November 21, 1695, was an English Baroque composer. He has often been called England's finest native composer. Purcell incorporated Italian and French stylistic elements but devised a peculiarly English style of Baroque music.
God he is terrible. I haven't played trumpet in over 15 years and can do better than that!

@Nenamorut Unfortunately, you are mistaken. This piece is indeed by Purcell, the one by Clarke you are thinking of is known as the "Prince of Denmark's March" and is distinct. And let's not put down other people's playing on the internet if we can't do better, shall we? Being one, I know that trumpet players in general are supportive of each other regardless of their personal feelings about their playing.

This tuns is not by Purcell but by Jeremiah Clarke, and the playing is amateur at best 2 stars!

He's concentrating too much on his vibrato effects than mastering the song. Seems really nervous as well.

I guess he has some bees or buggles into the trumpet

Wait wait wait... this guy is a principal cornet? What?
I'm not going to bother being arrogant, but this guy needs to work on his technique and embouchure significantly, as he seems to have problems simply holding onto the notes. Having said that, I probably wouldn't have the guts to go out there sounding like that at his age.
