  • @sue4lions - Hi Sue! He was on everyone's case, flags, trumpets, drums, bones - everyone except the "pets"!! LOL He was the most Loved and Hated band director at the same time!! But I don't think the band ever really won anything again after he left.

But he knew how to get results out of kids - fast ! I can still play this march from memory today!

  • It's amazing to see this video - it brings back such wonderful memories! I was a senior in the 77-78 school year and am still so proud of having been a member of the Antelope Valley High School Marching Band (can you hear the announcer say it? I can!) Our many achievements were the direct result of the vision and talent of our director, Mr. Acciani.

  • WOW this was great! I was in the flag corp. Bandguy80av you got it right, they will never have another... Acciani was always on my case. I was a rebel without a cause, but a damn good flag carrier. I saw him at Yuma about 1997 as a Judge for my daughters band from Flagstaff, AZ. Would LOVE to get my hands on more footage from 1976-1978. Thank you for posting this!!!

  • This was great!!! I was in the Flag Corp - HA! Would love to get my hands on more footage. Bandguy80av - you said it, never again like this group. I graduated in '78 - saw Acciani years later (probably 1997) in Yuma when my daughter was playing and he was a Judge. He was ALWAYS on my case, but I was the ultimate rebel - damn good flag carrier though - LOL!

  • Great band !! I was in it then, played trumpet - still play today! To bad Antelope Valley will never field a band like that again. Notice the band director, (Acciani) walk past the camera near the start! We won sweapstakes that year!!

  • This was the year before I started, but we played GV my senior year. Awesome!

  • What a Great Roll Off....and interesting to hear GV played that fast. Thanks for posting. These videos are too much fun!
