Presented and written by Drew Chappell.
Director of photography, Daniel Fowler.

"Bring back the George" tells the true story of what really happened to New Zealand's much loved Georgie Pie restaurants. For many, Georgie Pie was a childhood highlight, a treasured family spot and a place where memories were born. Georgie Pie was at the height of popularity when it mysteriously closed its doors for good in the mid 90s.

  • Aw, really cute.

  • @amandapain Amanda Pain make me a mince and cheese pie please. followed by ginger crunch.

  • I'm from the states, and we have never heard of Georgie pies here..Basically, what is inside..We don't use the term mince here, unless you're talking about mince meat pie, which is more of a fruit pie, with raisins, and other weird stuff in it, and is served room temp., or cold..Not very popular, but not too bad..Haven't seen it in years..I'm assuming mince is simply chopped beef, what we call chop(ped) meat, or simply ground beef. (Hamburger meat.) It sounds like Cheeseburger in a pie. Correct?

  • @cheezer57 Hi there, cheers for the comment, yeah you're right on it, hot ground hamburger beef with melted cheese in-cased in a hot crispy pastry.. sometimes they create different flavours with the mince, eg. curry mince, peppered steak, steak & cheese, thai chicken, butter chicken, bacon & egg, mince cheese and bacon.. yum. Getting hungry now

  • I frequented the original Kelston Georgie Pie in the early 80's and onwards. Those were the best pies of all time. It's enough to make a grown man cry.
