Galveston's Pleasure Pier 1950

Elliot Lawrence appearance at the Marine Room at Galveston's Pleasure Pier. This is a line-level aircheck from a live broadcast of the band. Transferred directly from original reel-to-reel recording. My father Joe Techner does as riff of "But Not For Me" during his trumpet solo. Elliot appeared with Frankie Laine at the Pleasure Pier from August 18, 1950 -- September 4, 1950. Article from The Galveston Daily News August 16, 1950, "Aug. 20, 1950 (Sunday): Free open-air Concert at Murdoch's Pier. Sponsored by the Greater Galveston Beach Association. Seats set up for 1500 people. Others heard the concert from loud speakers that carried for two blocks. A special platform was constructed for the concert that was completed just prior to the concert start at 4:00 p.m."
